Building Update

I have been away lot recently so the blog is a little behind.

We had a recent Owners meeting in the building where about 16 owners showed up to find out what is happening with the Performance Audit and Reserve Fund study. Basically, as required by the condo act, we are hiring an engineer to validate the builders work as well as determine our Reserve Funding for the next 25 to 30 years to help ensure we have enough funds to cover new roofs or other significant maintenance that will occur years form now. This study will be done my around August.

Spring (I hope) is finally coming so we should start seeing each other outside and on our balconies. Please get to know your neighbours and say hi. Also remember that throwing cigarettes, water or anything off your balcony is not permitted (in addition to not being nice for your neighbours). Check your condo papers for what is allowed on the balcony - no BBQs for instance or Cable antennae's/satellite receivers or storage items. Likewise, remember that sound travels even more so outside so respect your neighbours by keeping your noise within reason so as not to unduly disturb everyone nearby.

With the snow disappearing the garage entry will likely be dug up to fix the heating system in the driveway some time this spring and the outdoor lights will be repaired.

  1. How come no one has mentioned about pet owners not scooping and pooping? Also letting their dogs do their business just outside exit doors and lobby entrances and let them pee right on the grass and bushes on our new beautiful landscape, Shame on the guilty pet owners.

  2. Actually this has been brought to the attention of TAG however there is nothing they can do unless someone tells them which owner is not cleaning up after their animal. If you see someone, and can identify their unit then management can act. We all need to work together to keep our building neat and tidy and free form poop, cigarette butts and garbage.

  3. Is there any date on when the condo will be complete? e.g. the stairs area does not look complete, outlets in hallways are missing covers etc. Also when is there going to be some furniture in the lobby? it looks unfinished and plain. I have not seen any construction workers here for a while.

  4. The board is working with the builder to try and get things finished. Especially with Spring around the corner we want to be able to use our spaces and see it all finished. Lobby furniture is one of the things the builder will be adding - you are right, it looks empty and it will be good to see it completed.

  5. I happened to walk on the sidewalk leading to the lobby entrance on Sutton drive and to my disgusts I saw millions of cigarette butts on the grass on Haven's property. I am hoping it isn't coming from the condo owners. Also I must add the many poop bags left on the grass by the lobby entrance. I cannot understand how some people would do some inconsiderate gestures. It sure ruins the look of a new building. People have more respect!
Sorry I just had to share this.

  6. I share your disgust, I mean really, we need to catch folks in the act so we can get them to stop.

  7. And how about cleaning up the garbage that's all around the property. oh my so much of it. Also who is in charge of cleaning up the stair cases, I don't think they were ever cleaned, it looks so dirty it's a shame, I am pretty sure we can make it more attractive for visitors and for most for us to enjoy to live here.

  8. My folks were visiting me this weekend and I couldn't get them to park close to an entrance. So many visitor parking taken by condo owners, like for an example one of my neighbors have 2 vehicles and both of them are parked every day and over night in the visitors spots. I thought it was mentioned in the TAG letters we were enforcing this problem. I think it's time now.
