Mortgage

Most of us today need mortgages and we are no different although ours will be fairly small. I read the email from the IMMS and was a bit concerned about sending them information about any mortgage I might have already set up. I am assured by the builder though, that this is a legitimate request as the New Horizon financier likes to see confirmation of mortgages and they want to manage the flow of information coming in hence the request to use one mortgage broker to handle details regardless of where one might have gotten their mortgage. So IMMS is "representing" New Horizon.

Probably most of you already knew this but as I have said before, I feel like a first time buyer again as we have not gone through this process in over 25 years.

March Update

Great news! Our builder provided me with some fantastic news yesterday. He is more than willing to help promote the blog to all the owners. This should really help us get together and start becoming a cohesive group as the moves begin. Perhaps we can schedule a party late August after the last move to get to know everyone.

I also expect to get some interior pictures soon! so you can all see the current progress.

I will keep you up to date as things transpire. Only a month or so to go before the first folks move into the first floor (I think)

Latest news

I tried to get some pictures at night so I could see inside and find out how things are progressing but didn't have my camera with me as I passed by so used my camera phone.  Not good enough to print.

Work though is moving along nicely and I have asked the builder if I can get onsite to take some regular interior photos to show how things are going. Will see what happens. In the meantime, you have likely received a notice as we did about a Mortgage company wanting details. Since this is our first new home in 25 years I have also asked to verify who this firm is. While we anticipate a small mortgage (mostly due to all our upgrades) we also hope the rates will be low. I am seeing 2.99 percent out there. Is anyone finding better rates or is it too early?

Will get some more pictures soon even if only outside (not much happening to the exterior though)
Keep reading and tell your friends to visit. We have over 2,200 page views to date! Thanks

12th March Update

My sister and I visited the site today and casually chatted with some of the workers.

Walls (gyprock) are being installed on the 3rd floor already!

Great news I am sure, especially for those moving in some time in May (I assume all April folks on the 1st floor got moved to May on last delay)

Keep visiting the blog and let me know if you hear or see anything. Only a month or two left until moving starts (4.5 months for my move in August)

New NEWS!

The condo is progressing well. My sister and I talked to one of the workers who mentioned the first floor has gyprock installed and they are progressing upwards. They are on the third floor with the fire extinguishers. Apparently they are doing about a floor every two weeks with the main gyprock so hopefully all is still on schedule. They have doors and windows now on the first floor rec center.

I took a couple of pictures to try and show some of the changes.  Look closely (scroll in) on the first picture to see the walls done at the back through the doors. Exciting!

Walls!

Good news! The inner walls look like they are starting to go up. I saw gyprock being delivered on Thursday. Unfortunately I did not have my camera or phone with me so no pictures. I will try and get some updated pix to see if we can see the walls being installed.

We should start to see the interior become more of a building and see our units start to take shape over the next few weeks. It doesn't take the installers long to get the gyprock up so look for lots of apparent change in the coming weeks.

Continuing work

My wife and I signed off on our changes yesterday. All that's left is to wait for the move in date. whoot!

Progress continues on our building although it is harder to see now since it is mostly indoors. You can see work on the ceiling of this unit, looking in from the outside.

In this next shot you can see large bundles of something (in my unit's master bedroom actually) that, looking at the image closely reads "Pressure-Utilized Compartmented Cavity System".

Good to see work continuing, as it provides hope for the current schedule.
